Grade Peaberry
Experience the distinctive flavours of Costa Rica with La Isabella's Honey Process Peaberry unroasted coffee beans. Straight from the iconic La Isabella Estate in the renowned Tres Rios region and grown at an elevation of 1600 meters, this coffee promises a harmonious blend of fruit, floral, and nutty nuances.
What's the magic of a Peaberry? It's nature's unique gift. A single bean matures inside the coffee cherry, enhancing it with concentrated flavour. Peaberries make up a mere 5% of the world's coffee, so they're truly a gem for coffee enthusiasts. Paired with the honey processing method, they deliver an amplified sweetness, a full-bodied texture with floral hints, and a lively acidity. Every cup promises a sweet, lasting aftertaste.
Now offered in smaller quantities, this coffee caters to home roasters or professionals looking to uncover the distinct character of a Costa Rican Peaberry.
This is un-roasted coffee ready to be roasted at home or your roastery.
The La Isabella Honey Process Peaberry coffee is unique for several reasons. It comes from one of the most renowned coffee regions in Costa Rica, Tres Rios, known for its rich volcanic soils and ideal coffee-growing climate. Peaberry beans are found in only 5% of all coffee and have a more robust flavour.
Moreover, the honey processing method at La Isabella adds an extra touch of sweetness to the beans. This method leaves some fruit on the beans while they dry, giving them a sweet, rich taste. This technique, combined with the natural attributes of the peaberry bean, results in a cup of coffee characterized by vibrant fruitiness, balanced sweetness, and a full, rich body, making it a truly distinctive coffee experience.
La Isabella Estate is located in the famed Tres Rios region of Costa Rica, a place celebrated for producing some of the world's finest coffee. This region's high-mountain climate, distinct seasons, and volcanic-enriched soil create the perfect environment for growing exceptional coffee.
At La Isabella, the Castro family ensures each coffee bean harvested is of the highest quality, emphasizing sustainability. The estate is dedicated to environmentally friendly and natural farming practices, aligning with the global movement towards sustainable coffee production. Despite Tres Rios being the smallest coffee-growing region in Costa Rica, its beans are in high demand worldwide, highlighting its significant role in the coffee industry.
Owned by the Castro family for nearly 120 years, the estate's roots trace back to 1888, when Mr. Teodosio Castro Angarita, an enterprising Colombian, established the first coffee estate in the region. Today, the third and fourth generations of the Castro family honour this tradition, managing La Isabella with the same dedication and passion, ensuring its distinctive place in the global coffee landscape. The estate's enduring family legacy and commitment to excellence solidify its unique status in the world of coffee.
