This coffee is a blend of Castillo, Colombia, Caturra, and Cenicafé varieties, and is produced by the CADEFIHUILA cooperative, where coffee has been an integral part of the community for generations. Grown at elevations between 1300 and 1900 meters and shaded by native trees, this coffee captures the unique characteristics of Huila’s terroir.
This washed coffee offers a flavor profile with notes of citrus, black tea, and apricot, complemented by subtle hints of crème caramel, plum, and apple. Its medium body and bright citric acidity bring balance and vibrancy to each cup, while a long and fruity aftertaste leaves a lasting impression. This Excelso is a product of the hard work and dedication of small-scale coffee farmers in the high-altitude Huila region of Colombia. These farmers, many of whom rely on coffee as their primary livelihood, use traditional and sustainable farming practices to cultivate the finest blend using their many varietals. Their efforts help preserve biodiversity of the surrounding vegetation that help provide shade while enhancing the coffee’s natural complexity.

CADEFIHUILA is a non-profit cooperative that’s been supporting coffee farmers in Huila, Colombia for over 60 years. With a network of 45 coffee purchase points, 46 fertilizer stores, and 16 cupping labs, it ensures farmers have the resources they need to grow high-quality coffee. They also provide drying services and market access for small producers.
The cooperative follows strict quality standards, meeting global certifications like Fairtrade, Rainforest, 4C, and C.A.F.E. Practices. This helps members tap into high-demand markets for specialty coffee. By guaranteeing cash payments and offering the best price possible, CADEFIHUILA plays a key role in keeping the local coffee industry stable and growing.
