Grade AA

Kenya Marua AA coffee, produced by the Marua Farmers Coop Society in the heart of Kenya’s Central Region, who have been cultivating premium Arabica coffee since 1963. This fully-washed coffee has a vibrant profile, with notes of black currant, blood orange, and hibiscus. With a full body, bright stone fruit acidity, and a pleasant fruit-like finish, offering a slightly fruit-forward balance, it makes an exceptional choice for specialty coffee lovers.

Available in 60kg bags with Grain-Pro packaging for preserving freshness, Kenya Marua AA is ideal for roasters looking to highlight true Kenyan coffee. Best suited for espresso, cold brew, and drip coffee, this medium-roast gem delivers a complex yet approachable cup.

What is so special about this coffee?

The careful processing by the Marua Farmers Coop Society makes this coffee truly special. Grown in the rich volcanic soil of Kenya’s Central Region and nourished by the waters of River Sagana, this fully-washed Arabica coffee develops a bright and fruit-forward character. The cooperative’s 400 farmers hand-pick ripe cherries, which are then fully-washed to enhance the clarity of flavours, resulting in notes of black currant, blood orange, hibiscus, and deeply matrixed fruit.

The dedication to sustainable farming, with shade trees and native vegetation protecting the crops, ensures a clean and complex cup. This attention to detail, combined with the unique terroir of the Aberdare and Mount Kenya slopes, makes Kenya Marua AA a true standout among East African coffees.

Cooperative Roots, Global Reach

In the heart of Kenya, coffee is more than just a crop; it's a communal effort. Hundreds of cooperatives bring together over 400 smallholder farmers, each contributing their unique touch to the beans. These cooperatives ensure top-quality coffee and strengthen ties in the local community.

These farmers, many of whom work on plots of less than five acres, are the backbone of Kenya's coffee industry. They share knowledge, resources, and a commitment to sustainable practices. Together, they're not just growing coffee; they're cultivating a stronger, united community.
