Café Primitivo is a fifth-generation coffee estate in Quindio, Colombia, founded by Primitivo Correal Barrios, whose dedication to coffee laid the foundation for the farm’s legacy. Today, under the leadership of Ana Maria Donneys, Cafe Primitivo is a hub for specialty coffee innovation. Despite initially pursuing a career outside of coffee, Ana Maria returned in 2016 to carry forward her family’s tradition, blending time-honoured techniques with modern advancements. Her expertise in fermentation, sustainability, and direct trade relationships has positioned Café Primitivo among Colombia’s rising specialty coffee leaders.

Café Primitivo is known for its processing methods, including anaerobic red honey and carbonic maceration, which enhance its coffees’ complexity and depth. The farm cultivates different varieties including Castillo, Caturra and Pink Bourbon. Ana’s commitment to quality has earned certifications from Rainforest Alliance and Fairtrade, ensuring responsible agricultural and social practices.

Beyond its exceptional coffees, Café Primitivo is deeply committed to its workers and community, prioritizing fair wages, education, and technology-driven solutions for future coffee farmers.
